About Us

Opera Unmasked was initiated by me, Jim Mitchell, founder and creator of the very successful Wantage Betjeman Festival. I have appeared in many operas with various companies and admit to being an opera fanatic, keen to share my passion with others.

Opera Unmasked is an exciting project which aims to encourage enjoyment and understanding of Opera, Theatre, Ballet and other performing Arts. Its focus is in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas. Experience has shown that many people can be deterred from enjoying various art forms due to lack of a satisfactory introduction or explanation. Opera Unmasked fulfils this need with productions of Opera, Theatre, Ballet, etc. by visiting professional companies. These productions are supplemented by introductory talks on popular operas for everyone and various education projects in schools.

Our monthly newsletter gives details of performances locally plus live transmissions of opera, theatre and ballet in local cinemas.
